6 Hours in St. Louis || Things to Do in St. Louis Missouri

Happy Friday!! I'm just over here singing...
"Meet me in St. Louis, Loius, meet me at the fair;
don't tell me the lights are shining any place but there."
Anyone else's mom sing this to them as a lullaby?! No, just me?
Honestly, I have never seen the movie it came from, but I love Judy Garland so maybe I should. Anywho...

We had plans to head south through New Orleans and Texas, making a slow journey to Colorado. However, we decided to head to Colorado earlier than planned, to try get in some spring skiing, and started booking it west with the quickest route we could find. This route happen to lead us right through St. Louis and we were able to spend a day exploring the "Gateway to the West"! More accurately we were able to spend just 6 hours exploring it! We were staying at a state park about 45 minutes away from downtown St. Louis, and because we teach in the mornings, we weren't able to leave the camper until just before noon.

We had originally only planned for two definite stops; the Gateway Arch and then do the Anheuser Busch Brewery tour and were going to spend the rest of our time stumbling across different spots and enjoying a long lunch somewhere. Well, that plan quickly changed when someone reminded us about the City Museum. So instead, we skipped lunch and crammed as much as we could into our 6 hour window.

5 Reasons Cracker Barrel is a Full-Time RVers Boondocking Bestie

We did it!!
We earned our boondocking in a parking lot badge!
Ok, so as far as I know there are no actual full-time RV life badges, but there should be.

Anyways, we spent this past Sunday night parked in a Cracker Barrel parking lot overnight and absolutely loved it!! I know what you might be thinking, "but, it's just a parking lot!" To me it is so much more. One, our night in the Cracker Barrel parking lot was our first night boondocking in Delilah the Dream Machine; two, the ambiance was actually perfect for a wonderful night's sleep. Here are 5 reasons we think boondocking at Cracker Barrel is an amazing component to full-time RV life....

Cracker Barrel: The Bed and Breakfast for RVers

We actually ate two different meals at this specific Cracker Barrel. We pulled into the lot, after a long day of driving, and went in to grab dinner before tucking in for the night. We also made sure to introduce ourselves to the manager, just to let staff know we would be staying overnight. The staff was so hospitable and accommodating. The next morning, we woke up and went back in for a huge breakfast to fuel us for the next 6 hour leg of our trip out West. Cracker Barrel now offers specialty coffee beverages and we loved adding a little oomph to our coffee game with a caramel and mocha latte.

Full-Time RV Life: The Sad Truth || #TravelTuesday Travel Link Up

Happy #TravelTuesday!!
Travel Blogger Link Up
I know, I know, but it's Thursday... 4 pm on Thursday.
Well, y'all... life! Thanks for giving me some grace!
Have fun travels to share? Adventures in your own backyard?
Add them to the link up at the bottom of this post!

This month's link up is a few days behind, because we have been crazy busy trying to pack up again and get on the road. We even gave ourselves an extra week in Orlando and it still wasn't enough time to get caught up with everyone! I have not had a minute to sit down and work on a post and probably should have just saved this one for today, but I wasn't really planning ahead, and then all of a sudden Tuesday came... and went. I did manage to get our Road Talk Tuesday video finished, so today that's all I really have to share.

Full-Time RV Life || Nashville, Providence Canyon, and Micanopy

I feel like I have been saying this so often, but yet again we have been a little MIA around the blog. We returned to Florida for a wedding in St. Augustine last weekend and, because we were so close to Orlando, we made plans to come back and catch up with friends and family before hitting the road again. We were only planning to stay for a week, but there was so much to fit in (and soooo much laundry to get done) that we have ended up staying for two. We've been busy running errands, placing Amazon orders, and catching up with everyone that we have neglected to do much updating around these parts. I have a few minutes between the chaos today to play catch-up, so I figured I would share a little bit about the last few spots we hit up before rolling back into Orlando...

Our Self-Planned Nassau Lighthouse Excursion || #TravelTuesday Travel Blogger Link Up

Happy Travel Tuesday!!
It's time for another link up, so be sure to head to the bottom of this post and add your adventures, to the blue "add your link" button, so that we can travel together!

We are loving our time in the mountains right now, but this cold weather has us seriously missing some sun and sand!! I figured to fight off the chill I should finally get around to posting about our last cruise to the Bahamas. Cruising is one of our absolute favorite ways to travel! We pack up all the essentials, board the boat, and then it's smooth sailing, as we head from one tropical destination to another! We usually try to book cruises heading to places we have never been and since almost every ship we have ever been on makes a stop in the Bahamas, that's usually a day that we won't leave the boat; opting to enjoy a deserted ship to ourselves.

Nassau Excursion to Hog Island Lighthouse

However, if you have ever sailed through Nassau, then you know that the tip of the island (as you are entering or leaving the harbor) has an abandoned lighthouse and a long stretch of gorgeous sand that just looks so inviting. Each time we would sail away, we would watch the lighthouse (Hog Island Lighthouse) get smaller and smaller and talk about how "one of these times" we were going to make it over there to explore! We finally decided that this specific trip was going to be that moment; the only challenge now was how to get over there?

Life's Sweet Journey Life Lately

Happy February friends!
Hoping all is well in your world!
It's the beginning of a new month, and we've been a little quiet on the blog, so I figured it's the perfect time for a little "Life Currently" update. Here is what February is currently looking like for us...

{Finishing} We just finished our new Road Talk Tuesday video and it is now live over on YouTube. We have had a few questions about what we do on the road, so we answered those questions this week. We both teach English online, while we work on hopefully growing this space into part of our income on the road. Head over to YouTube to catch the new video and subscribe!

{Subscribing} Now that we are spending so much time in the car we are trying to jump on the Podcast Train! We really haven't listened to very many and are trying to find some that we can enjoy together! We have been listening to other travel couples share their stories on To the Nations Worldwide podcast and are excited to be one of the couples on there soon!Share your faves! What podcasts should we be subscribing to?

Full-Time RV Life || Staying Connected and Happy on the Road

Happy Thursday!
If you follow our adventures on social media, or have watched this weeks Road Talk episode, then you know it's been one crazy week on the road!

From our first tire blow out, to no cell service at the campground we were staying at (we teach English online and have to be connected), only to get stuck the mug on the way to our next location, it's definitely been a week of on-the-go learning experiences for us. I figured I would share some tips and tricks we learned that might help you avoid making some of the mistake we made! So here are...

Our Asheville Brewery Tour

Happy Thursday!
This week it's been all about Asheville here on the blog and we kicked it off with some amazingly yummy food! Today's it is all about the boozy side of Asheville... come join us for our Asheville Brewery Tour!

Asheville Brewery Tour

Babe and I have birthdays just two days apart, which we actually find pretty fun, because it means double the celebrating! We spent my birthday checking something off my bucket list (seeing the Biltmore at Christmas) and we spent his doing our own Asheville brewery tour . Asheville's brewery scene is hopping (pun intended)! There is practically a brewery on every corner. We chose five that were in pretty good proximity to each other and made a day out of it!

Biscuit Head || The Best Breakfast {and Lunch} in Asheville, NC

Happy, happy Monday!
Cheers to a new week!

We are currently set-up at a park in Alabama, visiting a sweet friend of mine who just had a baby! I love that this RV life allows us the freedom to visit for a lot longer than we would have been able to otherwise.

This week, on the blog, we are sharing all about our time in Asheville! And what better way to kick off exploring somewhere new than with a good meal?! Seriously, y'all! Asheville has some amazing food, but what took the cake for us was Biscuit Head! BEST. BISCUITS. EVER!!

It's time for another #TravelTuesday link up!
And I can't wait to see all of your adventures; especially since I don't really have one of my own to offer! This week has been crazy; frozen pipes, no running water, and no shower in 4 days! This full-time RV life has definitely thrown us quite the learning curve! It all just makes me that much excited to see where in the world you have been... bring on the warmer temperatures!!

Hello 2018!! Our January Currently

Hello January and
HELLO 2018!!
Life's Sweet Journey

We've been a little quite around these parts; trying to really soak up the holidays and time with family, but are excited to jump back into the swing of things and share all that we've been up to. Our weekly Road Talk videos will resume next Tuesday, along with some more blog posts about our time in Asheville, but until then I can't think of a better way to kick off the new year than with a little January Currently fun! Here is what we've been up to so far this year:

{Starting} To really get used to seeing all these gorgeous mountain sunsets! We have had one beautiful color display every night for the last two weeks and I am not one bit sad about it!

{Hoping} That Delilah (our camper) has no frozen/ burst pipes or any damage from the freezing temperatures we've had while we have been in Tennessee. She has been parked down in the woods, at the base of my mom's property, while we are enjoying the warmth of the house. We are keeping a space heater set on low and have been checking on her everyday, but we won't really know if there were any issues until we get back on the road. Prayers are very welcome!

{Scheduling} The next few months on the road! We know we are heading back to Orlando, for a wedding in March, but until then we are are kind of flying by the seat of our pants. We have general destinations, but no actual spots booked. When you plan to be set in one spot for the first three months, only to have those plans fall through, it really throws you for a loop. But hey, I guess that's what we signed up for when we took the leap into full-time RV life! #Bringiton!

{Reading} I've actually been able to finish quite a few books these past couple weeks! My most recent being Lone Wolf by Jodi Picoult. Not one of her favorites of mine, but if you enjoy books with a strong animal focus it's a very interesting read.  We are currently listening to Queen of the Tearling anytime we're the road to our next destination and really enjoying it! I have also been reading the illustrated edition of Harry Potter and the Sorcerers Stone to my niece before bed all week and been LOVING every minute of that time together!

{Playing} With my sweet niece! The hardest thing about being on the road has been being apart from family. It was especially hard not being with them for the holidays. We already knew we would see my parents the week of New Years, at my mom's mountain house in Tennessee, but we got the bonus treat of one of my nieces being able to come too! My sis-in-love had to work all week and with my niece being out of school, and us missing her like CRAZY, my parents decided to bring her with them to "the Blue House". My heart was in absolute heaven!!

The Biltmore at Christmas

Happiest of Thursdays before Christmas!!
With our birthdays only a few days apart, Babe and I have been all kinds of birthday celebrating around these parts! To ring in 34 and 31 we took two very different tours through Asheville; a brew tour for his birthday and a step back in time for mine. I can't think of a better way to have spent my 31st birthday than checking something off my "30 in my 30s Bucket List"

Seeing the Biltmore at Christmas, all decorated in lights and bows, has been on my bucket list since I first went over 15 years ago! I was the literal definition of a kid-at-Christmas kind of happy! Minus, of course, the kid part (unless we are counting at heart)... hello, 31! The Biltmore at Christmas is beyond beautiful. I could gush for hours about the glorious Christmas feel, the hundreds of lights, and dozens of Christmas trees that filled the rooms, but I figure it might just be best to let the pictures speak for me!

Come with me and enjoy a walk through...

5 Fun Things to Do in Kentucky for Adults

Happy Friday!
We just left Kentucky and are now in Asheville, North Carolina! We will be calling Asheville "home" through Christmas and are looking forward to finally being in one spot for more than 4 nights. However, we couldn't move on without sharing all the places we explored in Kentucky! There is a ton to do in Kentucky, and while we didn't get to explore Churchill Downs (next time), we did drive through a lot of horse land on our way to explore these 5 fun places...

5 Fun Things to Do in Kentucky

We spent the first few nights in Northern Kentucky and really enjoyed our stay; exploring the different nooks and crannies around our spot in Hebron, Kentucky.

Our Maker's Mark Distillery Tour || Touring Iconic Kentucky Distilleries

Happy Tuesday Adventurers!!
Let's head to Maker's Mark Distillery!
Location: Maker's Mark Distillery, Loretto, Kentucky // It's the 2nd Tuesday of the month, which means it's time for another #TravelTuesday link up! Been adventuring anywhere lately? Explored somewhere new in the place you call home?! Join in at the bottom of this post! This month we are sharing one of our first adventures on the road, as well as our first installment of Road Talk Tuesday over on YouTube! Last week we headed to Maker's Mark Distillery for a tour and it was everything a Kentucky pit stop should be...

The Maker's Mark Distillery Tour is Totally Worth It

While you can visit the Maker's Mark Distillery without paying, you only get access to explore the outside grounds and visit the gift shop (where you can dip your own bottle!). The tour itself costs $12 and is worth EVERY. SINGLE. PENNY!

Stocking Stuffer Ideas for the Adventurer

Happy Wednesday All!
We are back on the road, after a few more curve balls, and headed towards southern Kentucky! I can't believe there are only 19 days left until Christmas! In the holiday spirit I figured this Currently edition should be Christmas themed; so, here is how we are currently celebrating this December...

{Lighting} My Mimi’s old ceramic Christmas tree! We are having a throwback Christmas this year, mostly because we only had room for about 4 decorations. Since we had no space for storing many ornaments, we decided that our RV Christmas tree would be one with sentimental value, that didn't take up much space! Once we get set up for at least more than a 2 day stretch in one place, it will go in between the recliners, right in the big back window.

{Spending} Money on stocking stuffers for each other! We are only doing stockings this year (this new adventure is gift enough). For the most part they will be filled with the essentials; coffee, gloves, cozy socks… but I am going to try to grab him a few fun items for all our upcoming adventurers. Any adventures in your life?! Here are some of my favorite finds:

Stocking Stuffer Ideas under $20 : for the Adventurer

For Her

Hiking Fanny Pack- I LOVE my fanny pack! It drives Babe crazy (hence, why it's not on his list), but it is so convenient and I much prefer having the weight on my hips than my shoulders!
WineARoo- We love taking wine on-the-go! Adventure picnics or to the movies, foldable wine pouches are amazing!
On-the-Go Phone Charger- I need this in my life! My poor little phone is on it's last leg and the charge doesn't last long. We have a bulky, portable charger, but need something smaller. Every adventurer needs a small portable phone charger.
Adventure Fuel Mug- Because every good adventure starts with a warm cup of coffee!

For Him

Wallet Survival Tool- I got him one a few years ago and somewhere in the wallet switches that have happened he lost it! These little things are great for on-the-go adventure needs!
LifeStraw- We have been wanting one of these for the longest time; we would love to taste water fresh from the mountain streams!
Sipping Stones- Because Babe likes what I call his "man-beverage" after a long day of hiking!
FloatPro: GoPro Wrist Strap- We have been using this old lanyard as a GoPro wrist strap and just try to make sure it's super secure before doing any crazy cliff jumps; it would be so nice to have one that we know would float to the surface should it ever slip loose!

{Choosing} Where we want to spend Christmas! Since we hit the road for full-time RV life right after Thanksgiving, and had originally planned to be working in West Virginia (more on that soon), we knew we wouldn't be making it back to Orlando for Christmas. Since we won't be in West Virginia it leaves so many possibilities for where we should spend Christmas Day. A huge part of me is sad not to be in Orlando, but there is a part of me that's excited for our first Christmas just the two of us and to maybe even have a cold Christmas for once; should I dare say white Christmas?! Here's to hoping!! Best towns for Christmas experiences... and go!

{Sending} Postcards! We have made promises to send postcards from each state we visit. So we are getting all our postcards ready to go, along with Christmas wishes to friends and family.

{Singing} As much Christmas music as possible! This will be the first time these Florida natives have ever had a white Christmas (hopefully), so we are taking full advantage of it.  We're feeling super cozy this year and singing along to every winter weathered Christmas song that comes on the radio. With all the crazy changes that have happened in our first week on the road our theme song has become "to face UNAFRAID the plans that we've made, walking in a winter wonderland."

And that's our December currently! What's going on in your world currently?
Got your own Christmas theme song for this year?!

Leaving for Full-Time RV Life and a Stay at Forest Lake RV Resort

Happy Friday!!

We are spending our Friday in the truck, with our home hooked up behind us and moving northward. We have officially been on the road for 5 days now! So, I figured I would share a little look at the mix of emotions and destinations that have been part of our first week of full-time RV life…

Goodbyes are Hard!

Full-Time Rv Life

We kicked off the week with tons of goodbyes and TONS of tears! Saying goobye to friends and family was harder than I thought it would be and the surge of emotions accumulated into a very tearful goodbye.

5 Cities on Our Road Trip Bucket List

As we get ready to embark on our full-time RVing adventure, Babe and I have been making bucket lists! Most include outdoor adventures; which national parks we want to visit, what thrill-seeking activities we are excited to try. However, there are some cities that we are itching to explore! So, I thought I would take a minute to share the top 5 cities we are most excited to visit...

The Bean: Things to Do and See in Chicago
Image via Flickr by Roman Boed

Chicago

After friends came back raving about all the fun they had when they visited, we knew this needed to be on our list. I began scouring the internet for the best things to do and see in Chicago. At the top of our list?! All the best places to eat!! I have heard that you can find spots to boondock overnight, in parking lots on the outskirts of the city, and then bike in. We'd love to bike through the city, working up an appetite, then stopping at all the delicious restaurants! Once we have filled our bellies, I want to snag a picture in front of The Bean. We definitely can't wait to visit Chicago!

5 Great Black Friday Deals on Amazon for RVers

Happy Day of Shopping Madness!
We are so excited to be spending tomorrow eating tons of yummy food and giving thanks for one last holiday to spend with all the people we love, before we hit the road on Monday (eek)!

You probably don't know this about me, but I HATE shopping! Add the word Black Friday in front of it and I literally break out in hives! The one year my sisters convinced me to go with them- mainly so I could wrangle all their children while they scoped out deals- the one thing I bought was literally stolen from right behind my feet, while I watched the kids play on the little mall playground. However, now that Amazon is in on all the Black Friday fun I am ALL about it!
Black Friday Deals on Amazon

Here are some of my favorite Black Friday finds this year...

InstantPot- I have heard so many great things about the InstantPot; not just for RVers, but for anyone who wants to lessen their time in the kitchen. I am so intrigued by it! If it really does cook that quickly it would be perfect for a quick dinner after a long day out adventuring.

Bike Rack- This is the same bike rack we have on the back of our camper. We have had it for two years and it is still going strong, keeps the bikes super sturdy while we are on the road, and it easy to use. It's over $100 off with the Black Friday deal!

Hammock- RV life or not, everyone needs a hammock! You will thank yourself! We got ours from some sweet friends, a year into our RV adventures, and we thought, "why did we wait so long?! The hammock life rocks!!"

Car Mount Phone Holder- Under $10!! We use the heck out of our car mount! It's so much easier to follow the GPS directions when the phone is sitting up on the dash.

Kindle- So I actually kind of despise myself for putting this on here, but a good deal is a good deal. I still am not sure if I can bring myself to make the jump, but I feel like it's probably imminent. I love a physical book more than anything and have sworn against e-readers since they came out. However, the RV life just isn't suitable for a huge library. Trust me, I have found a nook for as many books as possible, but I am running out of room. Looks like a Kindle may be in this RVers future very soon!

Those are some of my favorite finds this year, but there are tons of other great deals... head over and snag yourself something fun and skip all those crazy lines and crowds!

Happy Shopping and may your Thanksgiving be filled with family, friends, and fun!

#TravelTuesday 22 // A Goodbye Tribute to our Travel Trailer

Happy Travel Tuesday Folks!
I'm super excited for this month's link up and to see where in the world you have been!
Add your link at the bottom of the post and let's adventure together!

This month I am throwing it back with a tribute to our sweet travel trailer, Florida ReVa, and all the great adventures she brought us during the two years that we had her. It was a bittersweet day when we traded her in for our new home-on-wheels, but we needed something a bit roomier for full-time RV living. Here's a little taste of our life with our very first traveling home...

Getting Road Trip Ready and Easy At-Home Teeth Whitening

It continues to be a little chaotic around here, so I've been a little MIA from the blog for a week or two, but I wanted to share a little bit about how we are preparing for life on the road!

Here is how we have been doing on our "Get-Ready-for-Road-Life" mission...

We're TRYING to Become Minimalists

Ok, this is only partially true, considering we have been keeping WAY too much to really be able to call ourselves minimalists. However, the desire in my heart to really work on it is strong. We have been purging so much stuff and with every box that we take out the door my heart feels lighter and so much more free!

#TravelTuesday 21 // Hiking High Falls Trail near Cashiers, North Carolina

Happy Travel Tuesday Adventurers!!
I can't wait to see where you have been recently!
Add your link at the bottom of the post so that we can explore together!

If you can't tell from the last few posts, my heart has been longing for a good hike, some cooler weather, and a beautiful morning in the mountains! Since that is not an option right now I figured why not relive those moments, with a figurative hike to a beautiful North Carolina waterfall!

Beautiful waterfall hike near Cashiers, North Carolina

This beautiful hike can be found in Glenville, North Carolina (near Cashiers) and it is one of my favorite trails we've ever been on! If you love waterfalls as much as me, the High Falls Trail (also known as Cullowhee Falls Trail) is a must add to your hiking bucket list! Here's why:

October Currently and a Look at our Chaotic Life!

Can you believe it's already October?!
Linking up today with Anne in Residence for a little peek into our world right now- welcome to the chaos!
October Currently, a Giveaway and Bulletproof Coffee

{Styling} I am honestly not much of a stylist, but I am currently trying to plan my wardrobe choices for, oh, just the next full year! Trying to go from two full size closets down to half a closet in an RV is not easy. I may mostly wear tank tops and blue jean shorts, but we are planning to spend the first three months on the road at a ski resort, so I have to plan for all types of weather, but VERY minimally! At least it's finally made me throw away shirts I have been hanging onto since high school! Any body out there a capsule wardrober?! I welcome any and all advice!!

{Saving} Only the most important items! God Love my sis-in-law! She spent her entire day yesterday (after work nonetheless) helping me organize my house into boxes. I am NOT adept at any kind of cleaning organizing purging grown-up life skills. She helped me prioritize what we will need in the camper, what we should save for sentimental value (thanks mom and dad for being our storage unit for the next who-knows-how-long), and what had to go. Thankfully she's not afraid to say "girl! No way in H'ail you are keeping this?! What do you need this for and when did you last use it?!" She told me I couldn't even bring my $h!z bowl (as she appropriately named it; even if it was made by me and signed by our wedding guests), that I use to hide crap I might want, but really don't need.

{Searching} For a new home aka home-on-wheels! We finally purchases a new-to-us truck this weekend... meet Rodger the Dodger! Now, all we need to do is find a pretty little rolling home to hitch up behind "him" (though I keep saying she, so Rodger might be a girl) and we will be ready to roll out come the first December.

RV Life Planning Chaos

{Picking} Nothing right now, but on Monday I will be picking a winner for the first giveaway I am hosting in the month of adventure themed giveaways I have planned! For this giveaway I have partnered with Moon Guides, a beautiful travel guidebook company, to offer a choice of any travel guide and an 'Adventure Fuel' coffee mug to one winner. Head over to Instagram to enter! There will be a new giveaway that goes live every Wednesday!

Giveaway | Adventure Fuel Mug and Moon Travel Guides

{Making} Tons and tons of coffee!! Thankfully I just got a shipment of some yummy Aloha vanilla protein powder to try. I add protein powder to my morning coffee- hello Bulletproof coffee!- and have been itching to try it with a vanilla flavor. The chocolate I had was good, but this is even better! Plus, Aloha is a plant-based protein powder with no added ickiness, so I feel good about what I am putting in my body. If you have never tried protein powder in your coffee, you need to!! Here's what I do:

My Bulletproof Coffee Recipe
Step 1- Make a fresh pot of coffee (I have been LOVING Lavazza Espresso Roast)
Step 2- Pour coffee into a blender (I use my Ninja)
Step 3- Add 1 tbsp protein powder, 1 tbsp Bulletproof oil (can use coconut oil), a small scoop of unsalted grass fed butter, and a little almond milk (ghee can be used instead of butter)
Step 4- Blend to frothy goodness!
Step 5- Pour into your favorite mug and enjoy!!

I'm not sure how or why it works (I read the science on it somewhere), but I the butter has to be grass fed or you defeat the purpose of adding healthy fats to your coffee. I think it was something about having your body kickstart itself into burning fats. Anyways, I feel like it keeps me full and focused longer than a regular cup of coffee. Even if it's all in my head, I'm going with it!
