Biscuit Head || The Best Breakfast {and Lunch} in Asheville, NC

Happy, happy Monday!
Cheers to a new week!

We are currently set-up at a park in Alabama, visiting a sweet friend of mine who just had a baby! I love that this RV life allows us the freedom to visit for a lot longer than we would have been able to otherwise.

This week, on the blog, we are sharing all about our time in Asheville! And what better way to kick off exploring somewhere new than with a good meal?! Seriously, y'all! Asheville has some amazing food, but what took the cake for us was Biscuit Head! BEST. BISCUITS. EVER!!

Biscuit Head the Best Breakfast in Asheville

Biscuit Head has Amazing, Unique Options

We had heard so many great things about Biscuit Head! However, I am usually not a huge fan of biscuits. Babe LOVES them, but they are just a little too dry for me... typically. Biscuit Head showed me what a true biscuit should be like! The biscuit (which was the base for our sandwiches) was a mound of fluffy, flaky, moist and yummy goodness! It's cut in half and then packed with meat and fillings, depending on which sandwich you order.

In typical Melanie fashion I asked tons of questions about each biscuit, and the sweet gal at the counter was so helpful, sharing what she would recommend out of the choices I presented her with and why. We ended up ordering the pulled pork biscuit and the brisket biscuit and, boy, are we glad we did! They were amazing! I am not sure who thought to combine jalapeƱo pimento with maple syrup, but they are one smart cookie (or biscuit in this case)! I love sweet and salty, so the pulled pork biscuit was the perfect choice for me! Babe's brisket biscuit had a bit of a kick to it, which meant he enjoyed it that much more!!

Biscuit Head's Jelly Bar Wins at Life

Biscuit Head Jelly Bar

Tucked in the back corner of the restaurant is a jelly bar that will fulfill all of your jelly-loving dreams! I actually hadn't seen it at first, since I was too busy obsessing over how cute everything was (from our table marker to the cute desks near the table we snagged). When Babe came over to ask me "did you see the jelly bar?" I ran over and my eyes about popped out of my head! Biscuit Head has so many jelly and jam options (made fresh) to choose from, as well as different flavored butters and local honey! Honey is my jam and I loved being able to try each flavor. Also, gummy worm butter?! Need I say more?! They had such unique options to choose from that I didn't even know where to start, so I just grabbed the little cups and sampled to my hearts content. The jelly bar is perfect, because you can either add the jelly to your sandwich while you eat (which we did), but it also makes a great addition to the top of the biscuit that you still have left, once you finish your sandwich. Seriously, the biscuits are so big there will be plenty left on your plate to try every jelly option Biscuit Head has to offer. If you've been, tell me your fave! I really liked the sour cherry!!

Bacon in Your Coffee

Maple Bacon Latte from Biscuit Head

MAPLE. BACON. LATTE. Y'all?! Oh my goodness! Before our meals came, they brought out my coffee (which, honestly, I was a little skeptical about, but knew I just had to order). Biscuit Head's Maple Bacon Latte was SO GOOD, I would go back just to get that! And then of course end up ordering food, too. It's really a blessing we don't live closer, because I would probably be there everyday just stuffing my face! It would definitely be a punch to my waistline, but thankfully it wouldn't really be a punch to the budget.

Biscuit Head is an Affordable Breakfast (or Lunch) Spot

With the size (and amount of flavor) in each biscuit sandwich you really get a bang for your buck! The brisket sandwich is the most expensive one on the menu and it was just $10! Plus, they really are so plentiful that we could have easily split one and been satisfied! I do NOT recommend sharing on your first stop in (you want all that flavor for yourself, trust me), but it's definitely a doable option. Plus, they have different bacon glaze flavors that you can try. We thought strongly about grabbing an order of the strawberry sriracha bacon that was offered that day, but figured we would wait to see how full we were after the sandwiches. Good thing we waited! Next time we make it in I definitely think we will opt to share a sandwich we haven't tried yet (though who am I kidding? I will probably just get the pulled pork again, because that 'ish is delicious) and grab a side order of bacon!

Honestly, whatever you chose to order at Biscuit Head you can't go wrong! Just do yourself a favor and make your way there next time you are in Asheville! We ate at their location on Haywood Road, but had we known how good it was we would have eaten at their other location on the day we toured the Biltmore! Biscuit Head was the very best breakfast (lunch, brunch) we had during our time in Asheville!

Happy eating my friends!!
Have you ever been to Biscuit Head?

  6. OMG - I have to go here - if only for the bacon in your coffee! - Being English, and being back home I love my bacon but Asheville is quite far haha (I might try a home cooked version) My family actually lived in Texas for a years and they would rave about biscuits, I mean your type of biscuits, it's a totally foreign concept to us, and having traveled the whole world I don't think anywhere else has them either. Anyways sorry jabbering on - When I do get to do my USA trip which I'm planning on doing in a RV too - I will go to biscuit head for sure :D

  8. Yum...There's nothing in the world I love more than a good biscuit. Except maybe a jelly bar--I'm fascinated by that. It would be a fun thing to have for a brunch party.

    1. Oh my gosh!! Yes, you have GOT to go. It's delicious!! There are a few other locations in NC, so there may be one a bit closer to you. But it's even worth a drive into Asheville for the day if you get to start it off with food at Biscuit Head!
